Awesome Movie! Don Johnson is a great western actor. This movie tells a story with style! Everyone who likes historical, war, drama or westerns should watch this!

A decent film on a little-known incident in American military history. Those with a love of horses will find the story to be of particular interest, though you should be warned to expect several scenes that involve the animals being "put out of their misery." The movie tends to drag to a close and perhaps should have been 15-20 minutes shorter, but fans of military or western films shouldn't be too disappointed with this film.

I saw this movie when it was released, and seeing it again made me love it even more. There are disturbing scenes of horses being shot, but if you love horses, and men of principal, this is one that will make you cry, and stand up and cheer! A must see... Oh, and your kid's can watch too - no profanity.

Great movie from a military stand point and one that the family can watch. Good movie for older children to learn about history. Love horses, really didn't care for the scene with putting them out of their misery though.

A very disturbing film for horse lovers! On one level, I wished I'd never seen it. The one scene in particular where they are destroying the horses, I could not watch; was literally sobbing and crying "NO!" out loud over and over! If this is a true story, then shame on the Army!!!! Kudos to those who risked their lives and saved some of the horses! The film is well acted...no question there. It's just so sad to think that something like this could happen; I don't doubt that it did.....Just beware of very disturbing images!!!!

Its a good movie, but its not a TRUE STORY. The US Cavalry Association and the MacArthur Foundation thoroughly researched this alleged incident, they were unable to find anything remotely like it that actually occurred in history. Information was learned that the writer stated he had heard the story from 3 ol' sargents as he put it. No facts of this movie can be authenticated, but for a class B movie is a good one. Since it is NOT BASED on a true story, I can only rate it at 4 stars...
