Another "true story" of dubious authenticity, The Entity concerns a libidinous invisible presence. This unseen force repeatedly rapes poor Barbara Hershey, who can't get anyone to believe her stories of sexual assault. Frankly, she doesn't believe them herself until she undergoes therapy conducted by experts in both psychology and the supernatural. The entity, a great, hairy blob, is ultimately tricked into materializing, an act of revelation that proves to be its downfall. The Entity was adapted by Frank de Felitta from his own novel. ~ Hal Erickson, Rovi

This is a great film that every horror movie lover should see. I did'nt even know it was based on a true story until it was over....then I was freaked out for hours afterward. It made me want to call the woman and tell her how sorry I was.........Bet this movie was a shocker in 82!

Absolutely fantastic movie. Chilling. Imagine that happening to yourself and not being able to convince others that you are not crazy. For anyone who believes in the unknown, this movie is highly recommended. Even if one doesn't believe, it could change your mind.

When we watch films today, we must always be aware of WHEN that film was done. An film excellent for the 80s will seem pretty sad to us today.--- This film was supposed to have been based on a true story, but I think they made it much larger than life than it should have been, in much the same way that the Exorcist did. We've all heard about spectral lovers that caused problems in real relationships, even appearing between people in bed, so this was not that unbelieveable. People interested in the supernatural and the strange tales of such entities will appreciate this. Those more familiar with modern horro, however, will not.--- Being a bit more open-minded, I's actually like to see a remake of this to see a more realistic version done.
