Eating Raoul (1982) Reviews

Eating Raoul (1982)
Member Rating:
Eating Raoul was celebrated at the time of its release as the perfect marriage between mainstream moviemaking and the so-called "underground" cinema. Cult-film icons Mary Woronov and Paul Bartel (both of whom directed) play a married couple who decide to cash in on the sexual perversions of others. Posing as a hooker, Woronov lures the "johns" in and indulges their every kinky whim, whereupon Bartel kills the unwary client, steals the valuables, and sells the corpse for dog food. Though they see nothing wrong in what they're doing, they react in prudish disgust at the sexual preferences of their victims. Eventually, Raoul (Robert Beltran), the fellow who transports the corpses to the dog food concern, proves expendable--and extremely edible. Eating Raoul features a high-powered comic supporting cast, among them Buck Henry, Ed Begley Jr., Richard Paul, Hamilton Camp, and Edie McClurg. ~ Hal Erickson, Rovi

This movie had it's moments. Low budget, as everyone else mentions, so be prepared. Plot is totally bogus, as should be expected- HOWEVER, there are a few things worth a dry chuckle or two. We never did finish it, but I think the 45 minutes we watched was somewhat worthwhile.

This was a really funny movie. The dated aspects of it sort of take away from the plot, but if you can look past that you will really enjoy this. I wish they would remake this.

I usually enjoy "cult classics", but this one left me high and dry. An absolute "0" on the entertainment meter.

Really sophomoric "acting"...completely dated costumes. Many movies from earlier decades are still valid today and enjoyable to watch (case in point - A Fish Called Wanda). This was not. The story was inane, the dialogue was even more so. Worse than a high-school skit. UGH.

I saw this years ago and only remembered the ending. It isn't a GOOD movie by any respects, but amusing nonetheless. A bit of nudity doesn't hurt either.

Be sure to check this movie out, I saw this years ago and laughed about it for ages, just added it to my queue, thought i'd watch it again. Totally offbeat and off the wall, if you are warped(like me) you'll love this ridiculous silly fun movie

The contrast between the boring prudish couple, Bartel and Woronov, to the dynamite energy of Raoul (Beltran) makes for a delightful comdey. See who gets the last laugh.
