I love a thriller where the identity of the killer is not revealed or even certain at the close of the film. This movie is like that. A daring film for 1980, it was ahead of it's time in dealing with just a small part of the gay S&M scene and the crusing areas of the New York gay nights. The lighting and camera work are superb and even with the advances in film making, this picture stands up to the test of time with all around great production values and a story that isn't easily solved. If you like this film then you will probably also enjoy "Basic Instinct" and "The Jagged Edge."

Strange but entertaining movie--not sure if it accurately reflects what goes on in the world of gay S and M but the movie has this element of perverse fascination. Al Pacino is a long term talent and does a good job to the extent that you are not quite clear if he might have killed someone. Worth watching.
