The Hollywood Knights (1980)

The Hollywood Knights (1980)
Member Rating:
Fran Drescher, Michelle Pfeiffer, and Tony Danza are the most notable aspects of this forgettable teen drama that features a gang of youths in a car club who decide to battle it out with the establishment in Beverly Hills. It seems their favorite haunt, the last drive-in restaurant in the neighborhood, has been forced to close. Their rebellion is marked by tactics that might be embarrassing to any serious rebels: they turn a high school banner into an X-rated statement, sabotage a police car, ruin a manicured garden, and urinate in a punch bowl. These shenanigans take place on Halloween in 1965, a time when practical jokes are usually in the hands of elementary school kids -- and that level of maturity is maintained here. ~ Eleanor Mannikka, Rovi

I agree with the other reviewer that it's a combination of Animal House and American Graffiti. It's a very funny movie with a lot of adolescent humor that's still appealing.

I would characterize this movie as a good representation of the fun and mischief of high school “clicks” during the mid 1960s America. Set in Southern California during 1965, this hilarious film brings together some the raunchiness from Animal House and the heartfelt fun and tears from American Graffiti. Good storyline and fairly good acting. This film may not have ever been nominated for any award, but then again, who cares? It is a FUN and reminiscent adventure, well worth watching on a Saturday night. I’m glad Hollywood Knights has been released in DVD. My VHS version got wore out years ago!

Great movie for those "stuck in the 60's". As to the version on the DVD provided to me by Blockbuster Online.....the end of the movie......is not the same as I remembered when I viewed on TV several years ago......the ending may have been edited out or may be more than one version of some parts......but at the end of the Movie.....the police car had the rear end yanked out due to be chained to some stationary object (escapes my memory just what that object was)...... But still a GREAT movie for viewing......lots of laughs......
