This is a heartwarming story of a kid in foster care who dreams of attending Harvard. It touches on the difficulties faced by kids who are in and out of foster homes and who live in children's residential institutions, but without being graphic about violence and the language is kept clean. The DVD states that it is "Not Rated," but I'd consider it suitable for preteens or older. As with many family films, the ending is a very predictable, but happy, conclusion.

Keep in mind this is based on a TRUE life & it's not just a "family film with a predictable happy ending... Did you watch it? The ending isn't terrifically HAPPY for any of them. There is triumph over adversity though & that is what our kids need to learn. Life isn't always happy but it's worth pressing on.

This story is so inspiring. To think that this young man stayed so focused during high school nonetheless what was going on at home, is remarkable. Every young adult should see this. It just goes to show you that you can do anything you want to regardless of what life gives you. Would love to know more about him after his graduation.
