Technically, a well-assembled movie, but the tone is flat and tedious. It has the feel of propaganda rather than sweeping historical epic.

Interesting movie, but slow. I agree with Kurt that it seemed like a propaganda movie, but what I was thinking was that the Chinese people sacrificed so much to be liberated from the Qing dynasty and to be free and democratic, but instead, they ended up repressed and under totalitarian rule of the People's Republic of China, very sad and ironic.
