Liam Neeson narrates director Anthony Geffen's documentary exploring the mystery of famed British adventurer George Mallory, who -- along with fellow climber Sandy Irvine -- perished while attempting to reach the summit of Mount Everest back in 1924. Eight years after discovering Mallory's preserved body in one of the most treacherous areas of the mountain, American climber Conrad Anker teams with British mountaineer Leo Houlding to retrace Mallory's footsteps on the North East Ridge Route, free climbing in areas of the mountain that have since been outfitted with ladders despite the risk of injury or death. Alan Rickman, Hugh Dancy, and Ralph Fiennes provide additional narration. ~ Jason Buchanan, Rovi

As one who has followed climbing, this documentary, evaluating the likely success of George Mallory at being the first to reach the summit of Everest, was interesting. Watching Conrad Anker and Leo Houlding try to replicate the climb, using period clothing, and attacking the Hillary Step without the fixed ladder, helped establish the scale of Mallory's challenge.

I liked this documentary. It was so interesting. Watching Mr. Anker and Mr. Conrad were really brave to replicate this climb to Mt. Everest. They really were determined. I think George Mallory actually made it to the top in 1924. Sandy C.

This is an excellent documentary. It satisfies for me a boyhood want to know if they reached the summit. That one piece of evidence not found on his body seems to clinch it for me -they did. Magnificent camera work and a real feel for the terrible conditions one can face on Everest.
