Hmmm...I don't think so at all. I saw this film at a festival in North Carolina and really liked it. This film is a true independent (no Hollywood budget here), but it looked good to me (beautiful scenery) with a semi-standard creatively blocked writer, down on his luck, goes looking for inspiration plot... But, the dialogue and richness of characters are really well done. It's a 70's like film, character driven. So, if you are into CSI-like, fast-paced, nonsense, cliche-ridden dialogue, then you wouldn't get the real story. I do agree that this is Howell's best work in a long time.

Been seeing C. Thomas Howell make so many "cheeses" low budget films, but this one I really enjoyed. It was funny, not to bad a plot, and a good cast.
