Legend of the Eight Samurai (1984)

Legend of the Eight Samurai (1984)
Member Rating:
As might be gathered from its title, The Legend of the Eight Samurai is set in feudal Japan. Princess Hiroku Yokoshimaru's family is wiped out, along with her bodyguards. All that stands between the princess and certain death is an inexperienced young samurai played by martial-arts expert Sonny Chiba. Armed with little more than determination, Chiba must battle an octet of phantom warriors, a witch, and a killer centipede! The Legend of the Eight Samurai is as good as anything else of its type, sometimes a little better. ~ Hal Erickson, Rovi

I actually tried to watch the movie but it was so bad that I quickly lost interest and fell asleep a few times throughout the movie, trying to get my money's worth out of it. I would've been better off just sleeping instead and I'd be buck ahead. The movie is dubbed in English and the screen colors are very hued and it's hard to see whether it's daylight or nighttime since the colors are so bizarre. The sky was red at times and the colors were way off to the point that it almost looked like an animated movie, which is what I thought when the movie started playing, but when I started to see real people, albeit in very strange attire, I concluded that it was a real movie, but the guy who edited the color schemes was probably on drugs. I DO NOT RECOMMEND GETTING THIS VIDEO, well, not unless you also happen to be on drugs and want to waste over 2 hours of your own time..... it's your choice.

This movie is so silly that I immediately returned it to it's jacket within 5 minuts of playing. It's bunch of people running around purposeless and no one know's what's going on.

Probably the lamest Samurai movie I have ever watched. The dubbing in English is lame and the cheesy '80's techno Nintendo music was awful. Do yourself a favor and not rent this movie. Kinji Fukasaku has directed some cool movies, but this is not. It is funny, but at the expense of the poor quality of film.
