I can follow quick scene switching but the scene switches were far too long and kept you wondering about the first scene and when they would get on with it, lost my attention because of this. I do love BBC series & movies, this wasn't for me.
Disc 1 -- Roy Marsden at his very best. These first three episodes are atmospheric, well-acted, and sufficiently intriguing to draw you in. These are faithful reproductions of P D James's stories (unlike almost every other adaptation for TV, this actually fleshes out subplots and adds to them, sometimes, to make the story longer and even more interesting!). This is great stuff if you like British mysteries, and if you are fan of James' books you shouldn't be disappointed.
The second disc has the last three episodes on it. This is such a lost form of storytelling -- every story is followed up, and almost every major character is explored. They don't make this kind of mystery any more. If you do like P D James then you will love this.
A little too political but all in all a great show as usual. Great acting and cast of characters. You're never bored with PD James, especially with Roy Marsden playing the detective.
