See it in 3D - it's worth the price. The special effects and complete attention to detail were absolutely impressive! The plot would be difficult for young children under 10 years of age to follow but the action will hold their attention. Some of the comical scenes, while not inappropriate for children, are quite adult and would go beyond a child's understanding. Spoiler Alert: One of my favorite comical moments is when Mater tries to get the Queen of England's palace guards to smile!

"Cars 2" returns us to the world of sentient vehicles, and this time it has a plot--a plot of international intrigue which makes at least as much sense as "Goldfinger." There are a couple of subtle Bond references, but it's not a parody and I came to care about the characters and the struggle between good cars and bad cars. The visuals are still more important, though, and they're brilliant. The cars all have personalities, even national characteristics. At times I felt like taking the beautiful Holly Shiftwell out for a long drive. The settings, especially the urban settings, positively glow, from the tranquility (until the cars get there) of an Italian hill town to the hyperactive neon craziness of Tokyo. Surprisingly, the sound didn't measure up (standard DVD, not Blu-Ray). With a good Dolby 5.1 system, I should have had cars zooming past me from everywhere. Don't rent the disc, buy it "for the kids" and then spend more time watching it than they do.
