No, the blind swordsman is no leprichan, but he is no less magical. This dude can charm women, carve six men into sashimi, snd 'see' better than anybody. Add to that, he plays a mean drum, Ok, it's rediculous. However, One of the really strong things about the Zaitoichi series is its consistency. Once It grabs onto even a rediculous premise, it stays true to the premise and makes it happen. You feel secure enogh completely to suspend belief. You know they won't let you down. Not an 'A' movie, but they know how to do good popcorn fare.
