This is one of the better Japanese, horror films to come out in years because it was able to create moments of creepiness without resorting to Asian horror cliches. And even though it was just under 94 minutes, it seemed like a much longer film. If you liked the Japanese movie, "Dark Water", you might like this movie as they have a similar horror/suspense quality. The acting, directing, cinematography, sound and special effects were very well done. Even the main DVD menu had a cool, 3-D effect. For the first time I've seen, Japanese writing on papers, books and posters were sometimes subtitled in English. For a serious movie experience, make sure you select the Japanese language. The audio was output in Dolby Digital 3.1 and made minimal use of surround sound. As for extras, there's three trailers for the movie, a "Making of Ghost Train" feature (11:16 min), an inane and irrelevant "Commentary with the English Voice Actors" and trailers for six other movies. Definitely recommended.

I have been a big fan of Asian Horror genre, BUT this movie is a big disappointment. The storyline seems to be inconsistent, except for one or two scene... there are no shocks. However everything boil downs to a good story, which this movie misses by and large. If u want some good asian horror, try out "A tale of two sisters", "Shutter", "Three extremes", "The eye", "Whispering corridor" etc.
