In this tech-thriller from director Phil Alden Robinson, a group of five renegade computer hackers, led by Martin Bishop (Robert Redford), are hired by the government to steal a black box, containing a code-breaking machine, from the mathematician who invented the device. The government is able to persuade Martin to take the job by convincing him that they will drop a decades-old federal warrant for his involvement in computer fraud. Martin agrees and he takes his team on the mission, eventually taking the box. Shortly after the hackers have stolen the device, the mathematician turns up dead. Before long, the quintet realize that they've gotten themselves into more than they'd originally bargained for, as Bishop's old rival Cosmo (Ben Kingsley) enters into the fold. The eclectic ensemble also includes River Phoenix, Sidney Poitier, Dan Aykroyd, David Strathairn, Mary McDonnell, and James Earl Jones. ~ Matthew Tobey, Rovi

I cannot believe someone called this movie boring. This is one of those movies you sit back on a quiet or rainy day and enjoy with a bowl of popcorn. This is not one of those super action pack films. If you are looking for a Bruce Willis, Steven Segal type of movie or a super deep conspiracy theory type of movie, look else where. This movie brings a great cast of actors with secrets of why they do what they do. I have watched this movie many times and enjoyed it every time. The actors themselves makes this an enjoyable and entertaining movie. See it for yourself.

With the cast being reocnizable for people of most age groups, this movie delivers an intertaining experience. Weither it's the action behind the imaginative script or the well placed comedy breaks. Sneakers gives you a welocme break to a rough day.

'Sneakers' is one of the most memorable guilty pleasures I've seen. It's not a great film, but it's very fun and engrossing film to watch, that you could watch over and over. Robert Redford is fantastic in this as Martin Bishop, an anti-government computer wizz who breaks into government websites and leads a group who help him including a paranoid consipracy-theorist (Dan Aykroyd), a blind hardware guy (David Straithirn), a 19-year-old kid (River Phoenix), Martin's lady friend(Mary McDonnell) and Martin's best friend, an ex-C.I.A agent (Sidney Poiter). Martin and his group are caught by the government, then forced to steal a box for them holding a very important and dangerous computer chip from Martin's old college buddy Cosmo (Ben Kingsley) who since then has become an evil scientist. The only thing I didn't like about the film is the anti-Republican message at the end. Film Grade: B
