The dark-horse box-office hit First Blood spawned this even more successful sequel in which Sylvester Stallone, reprising his role as ex-Green Beret loner John Rambo, is extricated from prison by his former superior Colonel Trautman (Richard Crenna) for a top-secret operation to bring back POWs still held in Vietnam. Teamed up with a female Vietnamese freedom fighter (Julia Nickson), Rambo embarks on a "reconnaissance" mission. A love interest develops in the beautiful young guide -- she dies by enemy fire; he seeks revenge. Of course, there are also corrupt American officials behind the mission, and Rambo saves them for last. Over the course of the film, Rambo kills enough communist bad guys to fill the Rose Bowl, using everything from fishing line to exploding arrowheads to rocket launchers. Stallone mumbles, grunts, and groans his way through this laughable and often insulting film intended to exploit anti-communist fervor at the height of the Reagan years. ~ Jeremy Beday, Rovi

    I. this movie really didn't have as much action as the first one. this is one of those movies that the sequel is not as good as the first movie. the first Rambo really was better than this one, this was one Sylvester stallone's better movies though

First Blood Part II is a great movie, and another one of Stallone's bests. It has Stallone continuing his role as a one-man army who ventures to Vietnam to rescue American P.O.W.s. Full of explosions and violence, First Blood Part II definitely delivers on the action. However, the story lacks the luster that had it in Part I. I recommend it to fans of the first movie, and to action movie buffs. This is the classic action movie that spawned several spoofs.

I like this sequel better than the original - as it is loaded with action ! I also love what Rambo says at the end, "What do I want ? I want a country to love us (vets) as much as we loved our country." Powerful stuff - during the most complicated war of America's history: Vietnam. Stallone is RAMBO - and the only one who could have ever played John Rambo. He is absolutely fantastic. But unfortunately - some of the battle situations that Rambo survives in this movie are so laughable - one guy taking on a hundred Vietnamese soldiers - - - it is so unrealistic and typical "Hollywood" glitz....but the message from Rambo (ie: "Save American P.O.W. lives at all costs, for what they did for the United States in Vietnam") rings true and loud ! I only wish America had such patriotism in this year of 2008. It seems our leaders, media and education system want to destroy America from within....how we need another leader like Ronald Reagan again ! God bless America !
