An extremely interesting movie but definitely NOT cineplex material. You have to pay attention, think, connect the dots. In other words, its anti-Avatar because it forces you to engage your brain rather than your "oooh-aaah" reflex. Not the type of movie you would want to watch on a daily basis but if you consider yourself intelligent, thoughtful, with a fair supply of functioning brain cells, give it a try.

A painfully slow examination of how a tragic event affects various individuals and the people with whom they come in contact. The actors do a marvelous job, however, it seemed a bit absurd to me that Strathairn's character, at his age, would have a son as young as 9 yrs old. It didn't fit. If you like movies that are based on very deep and introspective examinations of character and not plot, then this might be for you.Otherwise,my take is that you will simply find it boring and tedious.

True, if you are looking for an action film, this isn't it. Plus, it is too long -- over two hours. It's a tormented story. What I find unique about it is that this film tackles the effects of suicide on those left behind. You have to stay with this film to fully appreciate it. Look carefully for the metaphors.
