They related it to Harry Potter. But i thought it wa nothing like it. It was a pretty good movie. One for the family.

Don't believe the hype - absolutely no comparison with Harry Potter. Not particularly well acted, and the script is very weak. It's actually a little boring, since there is nothing to really grip your attention. Kids might like to watch it once - definitely wont hold attention for repeated viewing.

My kids certainly enjoyed this movie, but I found the whole thing simply bizarre. First, it certainly bore no real resemblance to the Harry Potter stories or movies; the magical element of the story only emerges fairly late in the script and in fact seems out of place. Moreover, the idea of all these kids with British accents living as runaways in Venice, where the locals also have British accents struck me as really strange (and I'm British-born). The acting generally was very weak, even from the adults, although I have to say it was nice to see Alexei Sayle in a fairly big role. All in all, not the best of entertainment values.
