3 GUYS, 1 GIRL, 2 WEDDINGS (a rather unwieldy title) is a frothy, French/Belgian comedy of (sexual) manners, both gay & straight. Because of much else that you have probably already seen, you will expect it to go certain places. That it does, and yet doesn't, is very much to the credit of writer Jean-Luc Goossens and director Stephane Clavier. Its subject is one encountered, I suspect, by most gay men at some point in their lives: how to cope with an apparently straight male friend to whom you are hugely attracted but who can't or won't reciprocate. The movie's interesting hero/villain tries everything to win over his "love," including a sexual fling with a woman. (Some will bridle at this; while I found it both believable & hot, I realize that, for many gays, this does not come near the realm of possibility.) Though confronting some thorny questions, the moviemakers keep the tone light & generally sweet, by film's end you'll have had a good time but come up against some sharp edges.

While the characters in this rather pleasant French film were likable enough, I personally found this film to be a frustrating tale based on a central plot of a guy too dense and naive to realize his best male friend deeply loves him. Of course, the best friend never has the guts to tell him. This frustrating twaddle does on scene after scene throughout the entire film. The sub-plots are more interesting.

Enjoyed the film very much. Surprised it hasn't been done in an "English" version by now. Would definitely recommend it for a relaxing romp with some interesting characters.
