Very good documentary...showed what methadone does to people before and after they are on it....Very accurate depiction on those in the clinics but a little more information could have been put into it.

Most interesting film. Shows and describes heroin addicts' struggle to stay sober, but later on some become addicted to methadone. Methadone is supposed to help, but they become addicted and later on need higher and higher doses of the drug.

This documentary was done with a one-sided viewpoint. Most of the people they interviewed were obviously high on something else besides methadone. I can say from personal experience that some people do succeed on this program. If you have a plan, and an honest desire to conquer heroin addiction, then methadone CAN be a useful tool to accomplish that goal. Personally, it saved my life. In a million years I never would've imagined myself a heroin addict, but the circumstances in my life at the time made me susceptible to anything that would help me cope. I was quite surprised the first time I felt heroin withdrawals, and once I realized that I was PHYSICALLY addicted, I tried everything to get off of it. Quitting cold turkey was obviously out of the question, so, after a failed Vicodin regimen, I tried 21-day detox. The problem is it only lasted half the day. Methadone maintenance has allowed me to function as a normal human being while slowly reducing my dose. I'm proof it can work.
