Silk Stalkings: Season 05 (1995)
Member Rating:
The first of two radical cast turnovers occurs during the first half of Silk Stalkings' fifth season. Having worked together as undercover cops on the Palm Beach, FL police force for nearly six years, detectives Chris Lorenzo (Rob Estes) and Rita Lance (Mitzi Kapture) have fallen in love, and are married in a secret ceremony. Upon finding this out, Chris and Rita's ulcerated superior officer Captain Harry Lipschitz (Charlie Brill) breaks up their professional partnership. Chris is then teamed with Det. Holly Rawlins (Tyler Layton), a Southern gal who has never quite gotten over the drug-induced death of her sister. Rita's new partner is Det. Michael Price (Nick Kokotakis), a Chicagoan with plenty of his own emotional baggage. Less than one month after his marriage, Chris is gunned down and killed while trying to save his pregnant wife from kidnappers. Traumatized by this occurrence, Rita quits the police force cold, whereupon the saddened Lipschitz teams Holly Rawlins with Michael Price. This remains the status quo until the season's cliffhanger finale, in which Mike is falsely accused of murder and Holly is breaking every rule in the book to clear Mike's name; Lipschitz, on the verge of losing two crack "dog and cat" teams in a row, is seriously thinking of retirement. ~ Hal Erickson, Rovi

I have watched this show since day one, and had never been dissapointed until this season! Having Rita and Chris marry was just giving all of us fans what we had been longing for since the first season. Having killed off Chris broke my heart and came way to soon. This took my faith in the show's writers away, and although I did not want the show to end I wish it had in this season. The show was no longer classy and diginified without Chris and Rita!

I loved this show, Silk Stalkings, from the beginning. What a way to ruin it with Season 5! They should have just married Chris and Rita and ended it at that. But noooo...they kill Chris! How idiotic! The new characters are jokes, they don't have the same magic and/or chemistry that Chris and Rita do. This was not a huge ensemble cast like ER, where you can lose characters and bring in new ones. This was Chris and Rita! "They" were the show! I recommend you watch it up to where Chris dies, then move on.

Yes, I agree, the show is amazing with Chris and Rita. I can't believe they killed him off, especially with him recovering, and then not making it, I guess it's just to get the last loving words for each other, but what a shame. Why couldn't they just say that Chris and Rita decided that they both want to retire due to the violence and wanting to start fresh with their new familly. I can't believe they recast it with 2 obnoxious, annoying characterrs! No wonder the show went down after awhile. They could have done a better job at finding 2 detectives that can appeal to the viewers as well as showing some attraction to each other as Rita and Chris does, I think that's why they did so well for 5 seasons. I knew they were going to be together, but I'll have to say towards the end, they were so mushy with the love once they realize they were in love.
