A couple people rated this movie poorly, whining because it's "depressing"...well duh, the whole basis of the story is the horrible suffering that those in power inflict on the weak, and the doomed love of two people trapped in their respective worlds! It's sure not your typical Hollywood happy-crappy date flick, and that's why I love it. Angeline Jolie and Clive Owen give heartwrending, realistic performances of love, despair, rage, perseverence, and courage. Check it out if you want a movie with a deeply moving romance and an equally powerful social reminder about the true cost of war, greed, and hatred. It is a subtle uplifting, but healing for those sensitive enough to hear it.

I generally liked this movie. Very good acting, but very disappointed with the ending, just a bit too contrived for emotional response. The rest of it was very compelling and well done showing the desperate situations in many neglected areas of the globe.
