Is it possible to combine the supernatural with a police procedural/family drama, do it very quietly and classily and come up with a something unique and winning? NOS MIRAN makes it seem possible for nearly 90 of it 105 minutes but doesn't quite deliver the goods. Featuring one of Spain's finest actors--Carmelo Gomez--in a tricky role, the movie uses other good thesps, including a number of children, in its cast. The tone is muted and creepy from the outset, with an occasional trace of levity, and the film only grows darker as it proceeds. Toward the end, so much morbidity has built up that you wonder just how black ("The Nameless" comes immediately to mind) this movie might become. Then in the final section, the film takes almost a U-turn toward, well, you'll see. For me, the ending seemed simple, specious and unearned, ruining what could have been a truly memorable excavation of the otherworldly. As is, it's still worth your time--if you appreciate this genre.

A supernatural themed film with a solid if leisurely paced plot. The movie deals with possession but with a fresh and clever angle to it. In some ways it reminds one of 'The Others'. The acting is fine all around and it is lushly photographed. This is a good bet for a subtle Spanish thriller.

This was a great film. The plot is gripping and well developed, and it rarely resorts to cliche' or corniness. Good acting, good casting, good plot. An excellent mystery with a clever twist to the usual supernatural theme. Even the little kids are good.
