A cross-dressing man allows himself to be used as bait to trap a killer in this crime-drama. Bo Ancelin (Robinson Stevenin) is a twentysomething man from Brussels who feels most comfortable dressing and living as a woman. Some might see Bo's lifestyle as a marked contrast to that of his father, a successful and well-regarded businessman, though it seems father has some secrets of his own after no-nonsense police detective, Paul Huysmans (Richard Bohringer), arrests him on charges of child molestation. While Bo bears his own scars from his upbringing, he's not eager to speak against his father in court, but before long both Bo and Huysmans have bigger fish to fry -- a serial killer is walking the streets of Brussels and choosing as his favored victims prostitutes and cross-dressers. When two of his friends are murdered by the killer, Bo decides he must step in to help catch the killer that Huysmans hasn't yet found on his own, though Bo soon falls into a dangerous position when he falls in love with Johnny (Stephane Metzger), a sullen and street-smart hustler who helps rent-boys find profitable assignations with older women. ~ Mark Deming, Rovi

Well, it was not "The Birds" but it gives that same tone throughout the movie. It was very interesting to see how the main character lead us to different levels of suspense.

An example of motion picture as train wreck, TRANSFIXED is almost hypnotically awful yet you can’t quite divert your eyes. We watched it because we'd seen and enjoyed Robinson Stevein in a smaller role in the infinitely better "La Petite Lili." Here, as a transvestite, he gives a marvelous performance, even though the movie's a mess--offering just about all the heavy-handed French pretension imaginable, rolled up into one fat, lengthy lump. Identity, sexuality, gender, parenting, abuse, murder & more are tackled, wrestled to the ground & beaten into a puree. Coincidence, contrivance, contortion vie for first-place under the direction & co-writing of Francis Girod, a director who appears to understand little about pacing, specifically, or filmmaking technique in general. He allows his ensemble, working in various styles, to go far over the top. Only Stevenin keeps things grounded with his quiet beauty, occasional humor & the serious consideration he gives each new bizarre event.

A very intriguing film done in a style reminiscent of Hitchock and DiPalma, paying tribute to such films as Rear Window and Dressed To Kill, right down to the music. Keeps one guessing with a murder mystery set in the world of a transsexual night club performer who developes an unhealthy fixation on her new neighbor. Very well done.
