I'd say this film is like the French version of "In Like Fylnt" (which spoofed Bond films) movies. Wacky, lighthearted, and over the top. If you want some thing differnt, go no further.-Stone

Le Magnifique is a French parody of the older James Bond films. It is in color and has the usual subtitles in English in the easy to read yellow script. I was unable to locate any special features on the DVD. The great Jean-Paul Belmondo plays Francois Merlin, a writer of cheep but popular paperback novels. He lives in a run-down apartment, chain smokes and is almost broke. When he is typing his novels he sees himself as the main character, secret agent Bob St Clair, who is the complete opposite of Merlin in dress and style and action. Other real people in his life also find their way into his books. His publisher becomes the evil Albania villain. A very young Jacqueline Bisset plays Christina, a sociology student who lives in a neighboring apartment who has her hair in a bun, wears glasses and bulky sweaters. In the book she becomes Tatiana, the Bond girl of all Bond girls. This is a silly farce of a movie.
