Ay, Jalisco No Te Rajes (1941)
Member Rating:
The title of this Mexican actioner translates roughly as Jalisco, Don't Backslide! Based on the life of "gentleman gunman" Alfonso Alvarez Castillo (more popularly known as "Remington"), the film stars Jorge Negrete as young desperado Salvador Perry Gomez. Left without parents when his ranch is invaded by hired guns during the Mexican Revolution, Gomez turns outlaw in hopes of avenging his mother and father. Less time is spent on Gomez's criminal career than on his romantic dalliances with the gorgeous heroine, played by songstress Gloria Marin. Unlike the ill-fated "Remington," who died three years before this film was made, Gomez manages to survive until fade-out time. ~ Hal Erickson, Rovi
