Esh Tzoleveth (1989)
The year is 1949, and although things between the Arabs and the Jews haven't gotten as tense as they were later to become, there is a strong sense within each community that romantic relations across ethnic lines are a really bad idea. This does not deter Miriam (Sharon Hacohen) from having fallen in love with her Arab boyfriend, George (Dan Turgeman). They understand that they cannot remain together in what will soon be Israel, and plan to emigrate as soon as possible. Unfortunately for them, their romance has come to the attention of the Jewish militants of Lehi Underground, and one of its leaders, Itzhak Shamir (later the Premier of Israel). ~ Clarke Fountain, Rovi
