A perfect example of a failed remake. Do check out the original version which was Hollywood circa 1960 at it's very best. Gregory Peck, Eva Gardner, Fred Astaire, Anthony Perkins and an army of character actors all fire on eight cylinders. The new one has dreadful acting, a stupid plot and removes every great scene from the original. It makes no attempt whatsoever to capture the remarkable mood of Neville Shute's great novel. So, whereas the book will scare the daylights out of anyone bright enough to read, this movie only makes one worry about the future of film. If people really acted as presented in this flick, we'd deserve extinction.
