This is A1 film...I have seen it couple of times and enjoy every bit of it. A must see for Sci-Fic fans.

The premise is a good one, and the special effects/set design I'm sure were great for their day, and even hold up well today. The first and last parts of the movie are exciting and suspenseful. However, the middle section sags and is very slow, even boring. If the middle section had tighter editing (especially the part where they're going down the levels in the station getting clean and detoxified) I think this would be a much better movie. The extras about how they made the movie was interesting. Douglas Trumbull did the effects (same guy as 2001: A Space Odyssey).

I first saw this movie in 1971 as a mere junior high-schooler, in a mall movie theater that no longer exists. In those days I always sat right in the front row. Seeing it again, it is noteworthy that some of the computer technology shown is obviously dated compared to 2010, but some other design aspects still hold up as pretty modern looking. All you would have to do is replace the CRT video monitors with flat screens, and the quaint (by today's standards) telephone technology, and you could get away with thinking that it was made quite recently.
