"Follow the River" is one of my favorite books, and I held off watching to movie for years simply because I didn't want to be disappointed. Although it was certainly 'tamed down' for tv, and the ending was changed, those differences weren't enough to completely derail the movie. Nearly all of the key plot points were covered, and the characters were all presented much like I imagined. Everything seemed to happen very quickly, and their journey along the river was quite brief compared to everything written in the book, but I would still recommend the movie for anyone who wants a quick recap, or for people who just don't want to read the book. But the biggest highlight of the whole movie: RENEE O'CONNOR! And she's still acting like Gabrielle--running around in period clothing, hiking through the woods, whining, holding hands with girls (okay, it's her sister, but it's still cute), getting into trouble, being feisty, etc. Loved it!

This movie was alright, but the main character over acted alot, and it could have been a little more real, and gritty. I will definitely read the book, because I am sure it is better than the movie.
