Brokers (1997)

Brokers (1997)
David Goldberg co-directed (with cast member Allie Dvorin) and scripted this low-budget, black-and-white comedy-drama providing a glimpse into the lives of buyers and sellers cornered in the hard-edge cornices of Manhattan's equally hard-bargain real estate environs. The twentysomething brokers at Fopir Realty have to stay on their toes, since both owners and customers constantly look for loopholes, opportunities to evade paying commissions. The film features a first-person cinematic device as characters deliver revelations and rationalizations directly into the camera before returning to the more conventional narrative plot threads. At 71 minutes, this film falls slightly short of the usual feature-length running time. Shown at the 1997 Hollywood Film Festival. ~ Bhob Stewart, Rovi
