Can't You Hear the Wind Howl? The Life and Music of Robert Johnson (1997)
Member Rating:
A mix of new interviews with old footage and recordings, this documentary, narrated by Danny Glover, highlights legendary Mississippi blues guitarist-singer Robert Johnson (1911-38). Kevin Moore (who records as Keb Mo) appears as Johnson in narrated reenactment sequences, and producer Don Law is portrayed by Don Law Jr. With both color and black-and-white footage, the film traces the brief but extremely influential career of this near-mythic figure, generally regarded as the king of the Delta blues. What a great story. It was presented in a very professional and interesting way. And so many of his songs were played as well as other artists that were recorded on the road. What an education. Now I know who today's R&R greats are talking about when they say they got their starts in listening and imitating Robert Johnson. What a spectacular talent, and thank our stars he wasn't lost in history. My husband were completely entranced by this film.
