This movie is one of Rahman's best. The soundtrack is probably the best he ever composed (or maybe ties up with Roja as the best). The story line is simple and not spectacular but good enough. Aamir and Urmila give a stellar performance. Urmila looks stunning; though her outfils are skimpy by Hindi movie standards (of the time) they are not one bit vulgar. This movie was selected by Ismail Merchant (Merchant Ivory Productions) as a part of the "Journey through Bollywood" series played on TCM in 2003.

Editing is very poor. Filming is very poor. Story line is annoying and boring. Don't have friends watch this if you're trying to show them that films from India are great. There's so much better stuff "out there". Let Blockbuster send this to someone else (just not you).
