Bob Saget for 80% of the movie (as "the Dad") is mostly obnoxious and into ultra-Jewish-humor (where other people are churlishly criticized and verbally abused) and selfishness. His charming wife is amazing to put up with him, and his dutiful son is a wonderfully accommodating "good kid" about it. For the other 20% of the movie the Dad comes to realize how satisfying it is to help other people altruistically and to overcome his own neuroses.
