Member Rating:
In this psychological thriller, what at first seem to be the wholly insane (and gruesome) self-mutilations of a madman who is also probably a murderer are gradually revealed as the quite logical actions of a frantic man driven by circumstances to incredible extremes. Peter Winter (Peter Greene) is the madman in question, searching for his daughter on an island off the coast of New Brunswick while attempting to evade capture by a persistent detective. ~ Clarke Fountain, Rovi

This film was recommended to me and I was thrilled to see it offered here. One of my first picks and glad of it. Lodge Kerrigan's movie is a genuine and chillingly realistic interpretation of mental illness (schizophrenia). He and actor Peter Greene visualize an incredible view of the disease via a potent mix of sound and images. If you were ever curious about what actually goes on in the mind of a schizophrenic, this will give you a very stark idea of what it's like. Scared the hell out of me far more than a "horror" movie because it is so real. Shot over 2 years with a really low budget, Kerrigan does a fantastic job and Peter Greene is amazing.

Peter Greene's best role/preformance ever. Directer Kerrigan relies on emotion to tell the back stories of the charicters, in this moody sometimes artsy film. Good use of crazy sound bits and there's a gut turning incident with a finger nail. Not for everybody. -Stone

It is not often you will watch a movie that makes you physically uncomfortable. Clean, Shaven will do that, and it is a testament to the power of this film. Well worth 80 minutes of your time.
