The first season of Veronica Mars blended every dramatic element together and a treasure was produced. The following year, the series was still compelling as long as you didn't miss an episode or randomly view an episode. But the third season of Veronica Mars slipped. In too many ways, the majority of the whodunit scenes in the first two seasons was replaced with omi-gosh-Veronica-and-Logan-and-Piz!!1!!-type scenes. Despite the addition of the soap scenes, Veronica Mars was still worthy of another season and was still the best show on the fledging CW network. Many people despise the series finale because it was mediocre, but as a season finale, it was pretty great. Because of the spectacular conclusions of the first two seasons, the third season has a high expectation and fell short. Nonetheless, I gave the show four stars because once again, even at its series low, Veronica Mars was still the best show no one was watching.
I think Samantha R summed my thoughts up perfectly. While still a great show I had two problems with Season 3. 1st, you lose that angst filled period that just about all of us grow up with... High School. However VM is about as good of a transition as you'll get. 2nd, issue is pairing Logan and Veronica together. Sure we all want to see it happen, but together the story is so much more boring than when L and V are at each other's throats. You have two extremely witty and charismatic actors in Kristen Bell and Jason Dohring. You also have excellent writers who know how to make the most of their talent. Why would you self that for sappy moments? "Annoy tiny blonde one, annoy like the wind!" LMAO! I mean come on, that stuff is gold! Keeping these two at odds is when the shows was at the top of it's game. These two reasons are why I gave it 4 1/2 a half stars instead of 5. In reality, compared to other shows on TV, Veronica Mars S3 is a 5 star show.
